~ Liz Pickett, Peripatetic Team Manager, Social Worker, National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (UK)
"Embedding ESG principles in charities isn’t just about compliance—it’s about creating lasting impact for people and the planet while ensuring long-term resilience. By integrating environmental responsibility, social equity, and strong governance into their operations, charities can enhance trust, drive meaningful change, and secure a sustainable future for their mission. ESG is not an obligation—it’s an opportunity to lead by example and maximize positive outcomes for communities and stakeholders alike and Adam’s book helps to set the starting point."
~ Tracey Goh, Philanthropic Consultant
"At Metta Welfare Association, we recognise the growing importance of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles in the social service sector (SSA). Sustainability should never be the effort of one person or team. Everybody can and needs to play their part. That is why team members from different functions and seniority levels should attend.
This casual and engaging workshop is delivered in two parts:
Catalyse your sustainability conversations with this an interactive team-oriented game-like activity. Sustain • A • Map provides a guided platform for participants to exchange knowledge and learn.
Participants will discover myriad elements of sustainability, the cause and effect of various ESG factors and interesting trivia along the way. No two sessions are ever the same so let us see what path your team takes!
Sustain • A •Map is best for four to 10 participants and takes about three hours to complete.
Begin your journey to protect our environment literally, with a walk in nature. Set aside the distractions of daily life and experience our natural world as you probably never have. See, hear. feel, breathe and even taste the wonders of our flora and fauna cocooned in your own little bubble.
This is a relaxing activity that will renew your senses and recharge your mental wellbeing, opening your mind to a better appreciation of our world.
This activity is best conducted in a park or beach setting, at dawn.
There are many ways to take care of our environment and one of them is to help clean her up.
Plogging (from a combination of picking litter and jogging) is the act of picking up litter while jogging or walking. Of course, we can call it beach or park cleaning; jogging is optional!
I take groups to areas where our nation's army of cleaners is not always able to go to really clear rubbish and make an impact. The weight of rubbish collected is tallied afterward, for those who like data and statistics.
My interest in the climate began with my Secondary 1 and 2 research projects being Global Warming and Macaque Monkeys (then an endangered species) respectively. I spent years afterward annoying my family about switches that left on for more than a few seconds.
The first few years of my working life were spent in the hedonistic world of advertising, branding and corporate communications. But it is where I developed my skills in creative solutioning. It was then my good fortune to be headhunted to be a Singaporean telco’s first full-time sustainability advocate. That was where I discovered my true professional passion.
From initiating that telco's first sustainability report, I have helped to produce reports for various organisations. I also have a Graduate Certificate in Sustainability and Climate Policy, GRI Trainer certification and certificates from SDG Academy and the Institute of Technical Education.
I am a flexitarian, take public transport, use a camp shower to save water... and still annoy my family occasionally about leaving lights on.
